From Downtown Chicago
Approximately 66 miles
- Take I80/94 East or I90 East
- Exit on US 421 North (Exit 34B) - US 421 North turns into Franklin Street
- Take US 421/Franklin Street North through Michigan City until it dead ends in front of the public library
- Turn right on 4th Street and drive one block
- Turn left on Pine Street
- Follow past City Hall, over the bridge, to the zoo
From Southwest Michigan (Grand Rapids area)
Approximately 125 miles
- Take I-96 West
- Exit onto and follow I-94 West
- Exit and follow US-20 West (Exit 40B)
- Stay straight and go onto US 35 North (this is also Michigan Boulevard)
- Turn left (west) on Highway 12
- Follow Route 12 southwest into Michigan City
- As you enter town, pass through two traffic lights
- After the overpass, turn right onto Pine Street
- Follow Pine Street over the bridge to the zoo
From the New Buffalo area
